Illustrated album and comics: contemporary approach of creating image-text
This Laboratory is composed of four units as described below:
Unit 1: The illustrated book: relationship between word and image
This unit presents some of the formal concepts of the illustrated book in order to build the basic repertoire for mediated readings as well as the consolidation of pedagogical methods.
Unit 2: Comics: readings of word-image.
Having case studies as a starting point, this unit presents some of the main features of contemporary comics produced in Brazil as well as some analytical approaches and strategies for mediating these publications.
Unit 3: The artist´s book: ways of readings books as objects
Through a guided study of selected works of artists from last and present centuries, this unit presents some aspects of creation and mediation of the artistic books for children, exploring the design, image construction and artistic references that contextualize the productions of the presented works.
Unit 4: Mediation of narratives: reading books as reading images
Focusing on the basic methods of image reading, this unit investigates possible ways of decoding and appreciating illustrated books aesthetically using the principles of applied narratives to the simultaneous logic of image and text.
